About Pilates
What to expect in your first class
Mat-based, so no equipment to learn. The class works through controlled movements linked to your breathing, building strength through the abdominals, back and hips while lengthening and stabilising everything in between.
It is quieter than most classes on the timetable and the effort is internal. You will not be out of breath; you will notice it the next day.
Who it suits
Anyone rebuilding core strength — after pregnancy, after a back problem, or after a long stretch of sitting at a desk. It also pairs well with the heavier classes: members who do Body Pump twice a week often add a Pilates class for the recovery.
What to bring
A towel and water. Mats are provided.
